Another London actress has come to Kollywood to compete with Amy Jackson. British model Amy Jackson made her debut as heroine through the Tamil film Madrasapattinam. Later on she continued to act in Hindi and Tamil films.

She is currently pairing with Vikram in the film I directed by Shankar. Now after Amy another British girl Anara is coming to Kollywood. She has made her debut through the film titled Kadhale Ennai Kadhali. Santosh is debuting as hero in this film.

Debutant director Shaan is directing this film. He while speaking about this film said, " A Tamil boys fall in love with a British girl. The parents of the boy refuse to accept the foreign girl. How Anara convinces them and becomes their daughter-in-law is the rest of the story. We were in search for a foreign girl who would suit Tamil cinema.

We had given advertisements in London newspapers. Seeing these advertisement 50 British girls approached us. Among them there was a girl with black hair and with looks of a Tamilian. We selected her. Her name is Anara. The shooting of the whole film took place in London. Nizhalgal Ravi and Mayilsami are also acting in this film. English actor Roy has donned the villain role. Vimal Raj has composed the music while Saravanan has handled the camera."

A surprise in Kumki audio launch | Kumki Movie Audio Release

Super Star Rajnikanth’s name did not figure in the invitation card. It was mentioned that Kamal Haasan will release the audio CD and Surya will receive it.

But what happened was a sweet surprise. Today Rajnikanth had phoned Prabhu and told him that he will be attending the function. Because of this large number of police personnel were pressed into service at Sathyam Cinemas where the function was supposed to be held.

Rajni while speaking on this occasion said, "Normally I don’t participate in any of the functions. I have been invited for many functions. If I go for a function, I have to attend all the functions. That is why I avoid all the functions. I feel very shy to participate in the functions. To tell the truth attending a function is like running away from a person who has lent me money. They are so affectionate.

It is a great pride when Kamal was approached to do a Hollywood film by the Lord of Rings producer. It is not pride for Tamil cinema alone. It is a great pride for Indian cinema. Prabhu had invited me for this function. Immediately I told Prabhu, "No Prabhu. I am not participating in any of the functions." I made up my mind not to attend this function. Yesterday Prabhu Solomon came to my house to give the invitation of this function. I immediately called Prabhu on the phone and told him," What Prabhu? I already told you that I will not attend the function."

He said, "No Anna (elder brother). Giving the invitation is our duty." Even while going to bed I did not have the intention of attending this function. Everyone while speaking said that Rajni is one trunk and Kamal is another trunk. Vikram Prabhu has climbed with their help and is kissing Tamil cinema but he has not kissed Tamil cinema.

He has kissed his grandfather Shivaji Ganeshan. He is an akshayapathiram (meaning the vessel that never diminishes in its contents. Kamal and I came from there only. I became very close to him only at the time of the shooting of Padayappa. At that time he told me, "You have so far not lifted your shirt collar. Once you do it your buttons will burst." What a big word it was. Work hard Vikram like others said but don’t get scared. After seeing the songs and trailer, I feel that Kumki will be a great success. Vikram Prabhu, welcome to Tamil cinema. My wishes."

Producers of Rajini’s Thillu Mullu oppose the film’s remake

One of the many super-duper hits of superstar Rajinikanth include Thillumullu which released more than three decades ago in 1981. The film is very close to Rajini’s heart as it was directed by his ‘mentor’ K. Balachander. It was also the first time that Rajini did a character sans his trademark moustache. The film had the curvaceous Madhave opposite him and was a runaway hit.

Reports in the press claimed some time back that ‘Mirchi’ Siva would be starring in the remake of the film by the same name and that he would be reprising the dual roles, made almost legendary by Rajinikanth. The reports also said that the film would be produced by Kavithalaya, run by Balachander’s daughter Pushpa Kandhasamy.

Kalakendra Movies, which produced the original version starring Rajinikanth in the early eighties, has now objected to the efforts made by Kavithalaya in remaking Thillumullu without seeking prior and proper permission from them. Vijayalashmi, who owns Kalakendra Movies, has sent a legal notice to Kavithalaya through her lawyer Anandan.

She has said in the notice that “The film’s remake rights lie solely with us. Without seeking our permission, the film can’t be remade in Tamil or in any other language.”

Bollywood novice director Kamaal calls Rajinikanth ugly

Kamaal Rashid Khan a novice, B-grade Bollywood director has insulted Rajinikanth publicly.  Kamaal Rashid puts up in Dubai and has also engaged in production and writing lyrics for a couple of Hindi films. He has only had just 4 releases, all in all, debuting with Sitam in 2005.


On 23rd July, he went public on his micro blogging page saying, “Rajinikant is not bigger star than Ashish Chaudhry in Hindi films and now don’t ask who is Ashish?” Referring to Rajini he further added, “May be he is superstar in south? I have watched only two films of Rajinikanth. Andha kanoon for Bachchan sir and Robot for Aishwarya ji. So how to accept that ugly guy a superstar?”Kamaal Rashid’s last release Deshdrohi too was aimed at attacking people’s sentiments, as it was denounced by the local Marathi population of Mumbai. It was only worth the Lajja Award forWorst Treatment of a Serious Issue at the 2008 Golden Kela Awards. We would like to inform our readers that the Golden Kela Awards are given to those  Bollywood films that have the worst performance every year. Coming to know about it, actor Premgisays, “Some looser talking bad about our SUPER STAR I think we should ignore him and let’s not make him famous.” Keeping in mind Kamaal’s inexperience in the industry and his futile efforts at achieving stardom, the verbal attack on Thalaivar Rajini appears just a cheap and dirty way to earn fame. I have stopped moving with my friends says Surya

Surya has mentioned that he has stopped seeing his friends in order to spend his time with his wife and children. Surya while speaking to the media said, "I am donning the role of conjoined twins in the film Maatran.

Since I am continuously shooting I have no time to spend with my family. I have to spend my whole time with my work. At the same time I want to be a responsible father. Whenever I get a break, I rush to spend my time with Jo, Diya and Dev.

I don’t go out with my friends these days. To tell the truth, I don’t even speak with them in the phones also. Even if I want to exercise, I will do it before my kids wake up. I will be with them once they get up from their bed. I will do everything for them. I will help Jyothika by dressing the kids for school, feed them and take them to school"

Ajith’s role in Vishnuvardhan movie

There is a new update on the Ajith -Vishnuvardhan flick. The untitled film will soon get a title. We had informed our readers that the recent addition to the cast is Tollywood actor Rana Daggubati, nephew of popular Telugu stars Venkatesh and Nagarjuna.


Now we hear that Thala Ajith will be playing a very exciting role in the film. He has been hitting the gym day in and out to get into shape, after many of his fans felt it was the right decision. Ajith’s role in the film will be that of a hacker. His risky job of cutting into important cross-network channels to access protected data, does get him in trouble. But the Billa 2 hero just knocks down everyone with ease, warning them not to disrupt his mission. Bollywood actor Mahesh Manjrekar plays the villain in the movie. Other s include Atul Kulkarni and Suman Ranganathan. Arya, Nayanthara and Taapsee form the lead cast for this upcoming Vishnuvardhan project along with Ajith. The director recently caught up on Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises and has returned to his regular shoots.

Suriya cuts Birthday cake with Maatraan team

Kollywood’s favourite, Suriya celebrates his birthday today (23rd July, 2012) turning 37.This year has been a refreshing one for him, taking up the new role of a television host for the show Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi.  On his birthday, Actor Jiiva too wished him saying, “Many more happy returns of the day to actor Suriya. All the best for Maatraan.”


The versatility he displays in front of the camera and his humble nature off the screen has won him fans across the globe. Debuting under Mani Ratnam’s production venture Nerukku Ner, Suriyagot his first click in Nandha directed by Bala. Later on a slew of hits followed in Kaakha Kaakha, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Vaaranam Aayiram and many more taking him to the top. His fans are celebrating the big day donating note books and dresses to school children on behalf of his Agaram foundation. There are blood donation camps being organized with 82 of the fans signing up for the cause at VHS Hospital in Chennai. Suriya will commence shoots for director Hari’s Singham 2 soon and also has Maatraancoming up for release. He celebrated with the Maatraan unit, cutting a big cake and plans to spend the rest of the day with his lovely wife Jyothika and kiddos Diya and Dev. Our hearty wishes to the B’Day boy.

Ajith who was startled immediately wiped the blood and gave me first aid treatment. I was highly delighted seeing such a big actor behaving in a simple manner. He is a wonderful person.


I am very proud for acting with Ajith. Now I am acting in Mugamoodi directed by Mysskin. In this film also my role is a strong one.

Little Super Star Simbu plays station master's son in Movie Vaalu

STR was searching for a railway station and railway quarters to shoot some important scenes of 'Vaalu', since he is playing the son of a station master in the upcoming film. However, he could not find one in Tamil Nadu, as the Southern Railway authorities reportedly found it tough to allow the crew to shoot anywhere in the region, as they felt that the routine would be affected. The search of STR and his team members came to an end at last thanks to South Central Railway, as the authorities there permitted them to shoot 'Vaalu' in a railway station near Hyderabad. But they have given only a few days time to wrap up the shoot. Hence, the cast and crew of the movie are working round the clock to achieve the target. Ajith’s Billa-2 distributor suffers heart-attack?

The Mollywood press is abuzz with reports that a popular distributor, who had taken up the distribution rights of Ajith’s latest film Billa-2, has suffered a cardiac arrest. The distributor in question was later rushed to hospital and is said to be out of danger. It was added that the distributor took ill the moment he heard that the film which he had taken up for distribution hadn’t been doing well in theatres as expected. Ajith doesn’t have much of a fan base in Kerala but the distributor was reportedly ‘taken in’ by the pre-publicity glitz and had reportedly acquired the film’s distribution rights for Rs.1.5 crore.

Released on 13th July, he film did good business on the first few days and then the theatres in Kerala started recording attendance of very few fans and movie-goers. The producer, who was upset about this, reportedly suffered the cardiac arrest when he was going through the collection reports of the film in theatres. He was rushed to a private hospital in Chennai where he was treated.

Whatever could be the reasons for his illness, Ajith’s fans are livid at reports suggesting that the dip in theatrical collections of Billa-2 might have caused it. They have been jamming the social networking sites flooding them with denials that it was a ‘wrong report’ and planted by the star’s detractors. “An English daily published this news without any solid poof,” they contend.

Unconfirmed reports say that Billa-2 has reportedly collected Rs.17 crore in its first week.

A City Civil Court extended the stay on the makers of actor Vijay’s upcoming film Thuppakki

A City Civil Court extended the stay on the makers of actor Vijay’s upcoming film Thuppakki restraining them from using the title in promoting the film. The ban, which was earlier imposed, has now been extended till 25th July when the case is again taken up for hearing.

A production house by name North East Film Works had earlier filed a petition with the Civil Court saying “We are making a film titled Kallathuppakki whose title was already registered with Film Chamber. We seek ban on the producer of Vijay’s Thuppakki from using the title as it’s part of the title of our film. We were the ones who first got the title formally registered,” the petition said.

Justice Thirumagal had imposed an ‘interim’ ban on the producers of Vijay’s Thuppakki from using the name to publicise their film. Its producer Kalaipuli Thaanu recently filed a counter petition seeking the Court’s intervention in lifting the ban on them using the title to promote their film. Thanu had contended that it was ‘unacceptable’ if the petitioner said that the latter part of their film’s title shouldn’t be used by others.

Thaanu cited example of several films and requested the Court to lift the ban in using the title. The case has now been postponed for its next hearing on 25th July with the Judge decreeing that the ban order would continue till that time.

Prabhudeva sacrificed Nayantara’s affair for his children

Finally, the cat is out of the bag. Choreographer-filmmaker Prabhudeva has finally admitted that he had indeed ‘sacrificed’ his love for actress Nayanthara for the sake of re-uniting with his family and children. Nayan and Prabhu had a three-and-a-half year long period of courtship before they called it quits early this year.

Prabhudeva, who had married dancer Ramalat more than 15 years back, realized only later that more than his ladylove Nayanthara, he needed the company of his two children who were in the custody of Ramalat with whom he has now legally separated. However, Prabhudeva reportedly gave crores of money in cash and kind to Ramalat in order to get her to ‘agree’ to mutual divorce.

As it happened, Nayan didn’t take kindly to Prabhu’s continued liaison with his first wife and his children and called off the relationship. She then went ahead and made a successful comeback to films, with a slew of films in Tamil and Telugu in her kitty. Prabhudeva too did very well professionally, delivering one of the super-duper hits in recent times with his latest directorial venture Rowdy Rathore in Bollywood.

Prabhudeva has now gone public over the reasons which caused the split between him and Nayanthara. “To me, the welfare of my children assumes highest significance more than anything else. For their sake, I did end my affair with Nayanthara,” he has stated in a recent interview. Ironically, when the media printed the same thing a few months, he had denied the same.

Suriya’s Maatraan inspired by Hollywood’s Stuck on You?

Whenever the scripts of Tamil films resemble some Hollywood movies to those who regularly watch English movies, it is said that these Tamil films are ‘inspired’ by those English flicks. The word ‘plagiarism’ is a taboo as far as Kollywood’s film-makers are concerned and they’d simply admit that their film was ‘merely inspired’ by a Hollywood film.

Suriya’s upcoming film Maatraan opposite sizzling Kajal Aggarwal and directed by K.V. Anand is said to be ‘loosely’ based on the 2003 Hollywood flick Stuck On You whose script was also about conjoined twins directed by Farrelly brothers. Anand, however insists that the script was borne out of a book he had come across some time back during a journey.

Anand had also vehemently denied that the film’s script was in any way similar to the Tamil-Kannada bilingual Charulata which stars Priyamani in the lead. It now turns out that Maatraan is ‘heavily inspired’ by the Hollywood flick Stuck On You which was about conjoined twins who had similar thoughts, ideas, acts and tastes.

Anand’s earlier successful flicks such as Ayan and Ko were also said to be ‘loosely’ based on some English films. With Maatraan, Anand might even end up scoring a hat-trick of hits but the ‘inspiration’ tag might not desert him for now!
